1 outta 3

I just transferred to a new school and have been living in a new place for about months now with three other girls- and I’m starting to dislike one of them a ton because of how sloppy she is. I’ve lived with roommates that were neatfreaks but I’ve never really had to deal with this. She leaves piles of dishes in the sink for weeks (or until she’s told to clean up- but really? I find it sad that someone needs to actually tell her these things)- and many of those dishes belong to me or my other roommates. She also has friends over who leave trash all around the downstairs area and she never cleans up after them. Trash cans are a bit too advanced for her because she gave up on that concept long ago- she had a huge trashbag in her room that took about a month to fill up all the way and stunk up the entire house. She started on a new bag and left her used pads in plain sight (I mean, my god). I wouldn’t have a problem so much with the mess that’s just in her room but as it turns out I have to walk through her room to get to mine. I’ve got a ton of air fresheners.
Of all people to own an animal, she has a cat who sometimes doesn’t get fed- because she just forgets to- and also the litter box goes weeks before its cleaned out. There have been a few times when me or my other roommates fed her cat or gave her water and got yelled at for it- she’s so possesive over her cat although she never really pays much attention to her and when she does she handles her too roughly. It’s no wonder why the cat doesn’t like to be around her and comes into my room whenever she’s home.
But anyways- I feel as though she’s a spoiled brat who is too childish to even realize what her responsibilities as a roommate are (not leaving hair dye all over the bathroom sink and tub would be one). I’ve been talking to my other two roommates about what to do and we’ve agreed that we’d like her to move out- I’m certain that we can find another roommate for the upcoming school year so that shouldn’t be a problem- the lease insn’t up for another 6 months though. What I really think we should do is confront her about all these problems and tell her that if she doesn’t shape up soon we’ll be kicking her out. Maybe then she might change, although I doubt it.
