Surprised

I’m probably too sensitive. But, this is my first time living outside alone, and not even one week, my room mate is having complaints about ME! We are both in the same program, so we are going to see eachother a lot even after the issues is over. I hate dramas, but I’m not going to sumbit to my roommate\s every wish.
I realized that we are culturally different, and I’m having trouble not taking it the wrong way. I know my roommate might never have been exposed to my culture’s food, aside from in those “tradtional” resturants. I didn’t think that my foods were so appalling to the point that it is making my room mate sick . My friends never noticed any odur on me after I eat, and none of them complained about what I eat. Also, I respect our peace and privacy, but do I have to tiptoe like a mouse all the time just incase that my roommate decides to take a late noon nap?
I know roommate can be insecure, but no, really, my friends ARE NOT going to burst into the room and kill you. I swear. I just like a little company, that’s all.
I was surprised and upset by the letter my roommate slipped under my door, listing all the thing my roommate doesn’t like. But, gosh, couldn’t my room mate have given it a couple more days?
I cried. Hard. Maybe I have never been so humiliated, offended, and disapppointed before. I am thinking of getting a new roommate, or just moving home…because I’m clearly not ready to take on the task of being confronted by a random stranger whom I’ve known for less than a week.

I think you mean you’re not ready to take on the task of living with a random **racist** stranger.
It makes no difference what you cook. “You smell like curry” is just a typical racist remark against brown people. (Trust me, I’m white and grew up in a small town and I heard this one all the time when I was a kid).
I hope you got a new roommate. This guy is an insecure asshole.
