Ugh why am I so bad at picking roommates?

Currently living with 2 roommates C, D in one room, with 2 other housemates A, B in a separate room. The first warning sign should have been when roommate A decided to charge me $100 extra for cleaning because I wasn’t in town before the lease started. I have a heavy schedule with an internship and classes, so I try to sleep relatively early. Unfortunately everyone else is a night owl. B has taken up the guitar and prefers to practice at 3 in the morning; thankfully we have a hard floor so the sound carries straight to my bedroom. This isn’t nearly as bad as C playing HoN/LoL until 6-7 in the morning, with constant clicking and typing sounds giving me a migraine, and the annoying as hell groaning/grunting sounds he makes; for god’s sake get a fucking cough drop. I can’t sleep anymore without earplugs. C is also extremely messy, leaving dishes in the sink for weeks without cleaning them and raw meat/eggs on the stove and counter. When I tell him to clean it up he simply ignores me. I think he’s going to get salmonella poisoning one of these days. He also never leaves the fucking room; I swear every time I get back from class he’s watching a movie or TV show, and I get maybe an hour a week in the room by myself because when C leaves, D enters.

Unfortunately, A is a neat freak, but instead of confronting C directly about the mess A attacks me for random shit like forgetting to empty the water collector on the rice cooker (!) or putting small food particles in the garbage disposal. For the first few months of living together A had this irritating habit of leaving passive-aggressive notes blaming me for random household offenses, until I finally lost it and told him to stop. Now he’s taken to completely ignoring me when I’m in the room, even when I say hi or try to make small talk. He’s a complete dick and full of himself, trying to look cool by smearing on too much hair gel and displaying alcohol everywhere in the apartment. I think he views me with contempt because unlike his lazy ass I actually work and study hard for my classes. Him and B are best buddies, so he’s a complete hypocrite and gives B a pass for all the dirty dishes that B leaves in the sink (B’s almost as messy as C) while at the same time giving me hell about the littlest things. B at least tries to talk to me once in a while, but he’s not too much better. Both A and B often enter and leave the apartment to do things without inviting me or even letting me know what they’re doing (not that I need to know exactly where they are at all times, but they clearly don’t think I’m cool enough to join them whenever they go out).

D is kind of weird; he studies a lot, just like me, but like C he rarely leaves the room, and instead of going out and doing something when not studying, he stares at the wall or into space. He asks me questions about my day, etc., but they tend to be very annoying ones, probably because as a result of dealing with A, B, and C’s shit I already feel like I have no personal space and probing questions don’t really help in that regard. So yeah, D’s probably the best of this bunch, but that’s not really saying much.

I’m seriously considering just leaving and finding someone to sublet for the rest of the lease, because I don’t know how much more of this shit I can take. If only I had been more careful when selecting roommates…

Man, I let you live in my house for six months rent free because you were going through a hard time. I let you use my spare bed, and when my ex left and she took MY bed, you didn’t offer to help me out, I had to just go buy another one!

Couple that with the fact that the room that you now pay only $400 is a fucking pig sty 90% of the time, you rarely do laundry, only when I ask you to because we can smell your clothes in the hallway and in our kitchen.

I went into your room and found the sheets on the bed BLEACHED OUT from your god-damned sweat. You wiped SNOT all over the side of the bed I LOANED you. The toilet was covered in caked-on shit. I took pictures to work, just so my co-workers would believe the shit I say about you, because frankly, without pictures, even I wouldn’t.

Also, you think it’s OK to use ANY of my stuff, hell, I can’t remember the last time I sat at MY desk, because you decided one day to park YOUR computer on it.

Hell, I asked for something back that I loaned you today and you acted like you didn’t even remember what I loaned out to you. You’ve never ONCE thanked me for anything I’ve done for you.

When I cook dinner, you eat it. Those leftovers are for my damned lunch, ever think of that?

You’ve lived here over a year and have prepared/bought dinner less than five times.

You never hang out in your room because it’s too filthy, so I get to come home to Del Taco bags, empty soda cups, and other various forms of trash on my coffee table, just to find you playing WoW or facebooking… ON MY DESK THAT YOU COULDN’T CLUTTER UP BECAUSE IT’D INCONVENIENCE YOU TO LET CHORES GET IN THE WAY OF YOUR INTERNET.

You’re always late on bills and rent, and you’re ALWAYS blowing your money on junk, you get tons of video games and toys, but can never pay for the shit that MATTERS, how about paying your parking tickets? Buying car insurance? SAVING UP TO MOVE OUT?

You act like the world owes you something, like someone should hand hold you through life. It’s pathetic and sad, I’ve tried to be a good friend and help you out of the shit you’ve been in, but you won’t help yourself, and you’ve pretty much killed our friendship.

It’s sad that you couldn’t take the opportunity I handed you to become a better person, but you’re killin’ me.

Crazy insane roommate

I hate my roommate because he is an insane asshole. I come back quietly at 4 am, didnt even turn on a light only opened the window cuz it was hot.I went straight to sleep after. 6am, I here a noise. He leaves. Then he comes back and starts yelling at me saying I’m spiteful because he is pledging some fraternity, that admittedly i didn’t get a bid to, and that I’m therefore trying to make him sicker. The next day he still hates me for whatever reason, apparently the window, and has now avoided our room at all costs stopping only for 10 minutes at most to pick up stuff. He has stayed with his girlfriend down the hall for more than a week and won’t even talk to me, not that I want to. Sometimes when his girlfriend is out, he has to hang out and pace the hallway in order to avoid our room. A mutual friend of ours asked him whats wrong and he basically told him he hates me. Even though I’m the only one that has any reason to actually hate him.
